Our Lady of the Lakes’ National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) took the time out of their busy weekends to help serve those in most need. They spent last Sunday at Christ the Redeemer Church in Lake Orion helping pack food and gift baskets to give to needy families this upcoming Christmas.
While delivering Thanksgiving baskets to Holy Redeemer Parish in Detroit, Our Lady of the Lakes Junior High Student Council students met with students at Holy Redeemer School. As they talked with the students more, the Lakers wanted to do something for their new friends for Christmas.
Our Junior Kindergarteners are working on their hand writing skills. Students are writing letters to Santa with help from their “Space Men”, who help them remember to put a space between words.
This year marks the 7th year Mrs. Sumner’s 3rd grade class celebrates the Advent Season by giving back and packing boxes for active soldiers in the Middle East. Our Lady of the Lakes will be joining forces with the Desert Angels in hopes of making a soldier overseas smile. It is important to remember those that are sacrificing for our freedom, especially during the holiday season.
Our Lady of the Lakes 3rd graders have been learning about forces. They learned that forces are a push and a pull. Students created a “Hopper Popper” to measure the push and pulls of an object and how that force affected the object.
Oakland County has not been short on girls basketball talent over the years and that will be the case again in the 2018-19 season. A number of our top players already are signed on to play Division 1 basketball next winter.
