The goal of this department is to maximize the personal growth of each of our students. Our main functions are:
The counselor’s door is always open if it is an emergency. If not, students are welcome to come by and set up a time to meet so that students miss as little classroom instruction as possible. Parents are invited to email or call if there are any questions or concerns.
Confidentiality: When meeting with the school counselor, your conversations are most likely kept confidential. If the counselor believes someone is in danger, they are required by law to share that information. That information will only be shared with individuals who need to know. Your counselor will need to share if: you are being harmed by someone, you intend to harm another, or you want to harm yourself.

It is recommended for juniors to take both the ACT and the SAT. The tests are very different and students may score better on one vs. the other. Both tests are accepted by colleges for admission purposes. The Our Lady of the Lakes school code when registering for ACT & SAT is 233-698.

SAT: Registration information and national test dates can be found here.
In mid April, we provide practice SAT testing to students in 8th through 10th grades.
PSAT 8/9 is given to all 9th graders and is offered to all 8th graders. All sophomores take PSAT 10. These tests cover math, reading, language, and writing. The following link will take you to CollegeBoard for more information.
Advanced Placement offers students at OLL the opportunity to take college-level courses and exams. These courses allow students to potentially earn college credit, fulfill prerequisites for the first year in college, and give themselves an edge in the college admissions process. More information can be found here.
AP exam fee is $100 per test, to be paid in cash or check (written to Our Lady of the Lakes). AP exams are required for anyone taking an AP level course.

OK2SAY is a program designed to empower Michigan students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, and law enforcement to share and respond to student safety threats.
The goal of OK2SAY is to stop harmful behavior before it occurs by encouraging anyone to report threatening behavior to caring adult authorities who can help. OK2SAY encourages Michigan residents to confidentially submit tips 24/7 using the OK2SAY mobile app, online, email, texting, or by calling trained program technicians. Upon receipt of a tip, specially trained OK2SAY technicians address the immediate need and forward the information to the appropriate responding law enforcement agency or organization. Tips go to schools, local law enforcement agencies, community mental health agencies or the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
OK2SAY is not an emergency reporting system. Dial 911 for emergency situations!
